Employers are increasingly turning to veterans to fill the demand for skilled workers. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, 40% of employers planned to hire veterans in 2018, while the unemployment rate for veterans went down from 4.3 to 3.7% in 2017. These employers seek out the discipline, work ethic, and leadership qualities that veterans bring to the workplace. A Northeastern University study shows that while most veterans gravitate towards careers influenced by their prior assignments in the military, many also choose other career paths.
